Event description

Benefits management is often regarded as an immature discipline within the project delivery community across Government. This masterclass looks at three areas within transport where effective process, guidance and capability is being developed to make benefits management practical and accessible for all. By providing an overview of what is going on within DfT as well as an interactive workshop and good practice sharing from our partners this masterclass aims to give you all practical help to undertake benefits management more effectively within your projects and programmes.

Your speakers include:

From DfT’s Rail Group Laura Geddes-Brock, Lorraine Pearson and Joe Jockuat will provide an overview on what DfT are doing to improve benefits management within Rail Group and the wider Department and outline the key priorities for the year ahead.

Transport for London’s Ben Ganney will lead an interactive case study session on how benefits and value can help with option development and selection. It will also cover the Management of Value tools and techniques that can help with appraisal of non-monetised benefits

Martin Chick and Charlie Colburn, both Benefits Management Leads at Highways England, will share some of the tips and key lessons learned so far as they identify and plan the delivery of the benefits of the Lower Thames Crossing project, one of the largest highways schemes ever delivered by Highways England.

It should be a great two hours filled with an open discussion of good practice, interactive group work and practical tips for making benefits management work for you!
