Date and time
Location
Online event
This workshop will introduce education practitioners working in primary and secondary sectors to a new BLG curricular resource .
About this event
The Bereavement, Loss and Grief Team have been working on a new curricular resource for schools to help pupils understand about themes related to loss and grief. We are aware that this topic can be uncomfortable to talk about, however, it is something we will all experience so the aim of this resource is to support and guide school staff to introduce the topic in a sensitive and age and stage appropriate way through 3 interactive lessons.
The curricular resource provides detailed lesson plans, lesson outlines and resources for Primary 1 through to S5 and will be available through Glow. At the start of the 2022/23 session we will provide more detailed workshops for teaching staff to allow them to familiarise themselves with the resource.
The purpose of this upcoming workshop is to introduce the curricular resource as well as highlight the information and resources available for anyone supporting a young person or family who has experienced a bereavement. We will dedicate the 1st part of the workshop to revisiting theories of child bereavement, the role of education staff and how adults can support bereaved children, young people, families and colleagues.
