Mark Stanley

Mark will explain the latest development in smart city and rural applications using low power long range networks such as LoRaWAN, Sigfox and NB-IoT, replacing devices connected by Wi-Fi or traditional cellular in the context of the Smart Berkshire project.

Mark Stanley is an advocate for community led IoT innovation, and wants residents and businesses to play an active role in developing the smart city agenda where they live and work. Through his business Thingitude, Mark has delivered community projects and run workshops for small groups, councils and large businesses across the UK.

He is co-founder of The Things Network Reading, a community-owned LoRaWAN network used by the council, makers, artists, students and businesses for IoT projects such as monitoring plant health and measuring temperature on buses. Mark has been instrumental in growing The Things Network across the UK.

Mark is also a consultant to Digital Catapult where he designs and delivers LPWAN innovation programmes for SMEs working in LPWAN technology
