About this event

Arts • Theatre

Beryl Cook’s exuberant and joyful paintings are known and loved throughout the world.

Instantly recognisable, her works are of people she encountered in everyday life in pubs, at the shops or out on a hen night – but little is known of the very private person behind them.

In a unique coup de théâtre, BERYL COOK: A PRIVATE VIEW offers a rare glimpse into Beryl’s private thoughts as she completes one of her bold and playful oil paintings live on stage.

Working closely with the artist’s family to write the script, KARA WILSON offers a unique insight into the life and creative process of one of Britain’s most loved artists.

This is Kara’s fifth play on a painter and earlier works in this unique genre have toured galleries, auction houses and theatres in Scotland, England, Poland, and New York.
