Description

This programme is designed for all staff working in any care environment e.g. hospitals (including A&E / minor injuries), care homes / day care, domiciliary / home care and housing staff.

One nominated facilitator from the organisation attends this two day training course. That facilitator then goes back to the organisation to support further members of staff through the programme, using a cascade approach.

The course is very cost effective; £1500 covers the cost of the nine members of staff to go through the course, which works out at £167 per person. That price includes: the two day facilitator training; all the training materials (each person going through the course receives a course pack with study guides); support and guidance from DSDC; feedback and marking of coursework; certificate of completion.

Over 11,000 staff have already completed this programme, which is used in 10 countries and available globally. A formal evaluation of the programme highlighted key changes in practice including improvement in the way staff cared for and supported people with dementia, as well as improvements in the morale and retention of staff. The Best Practice learning programme is accredited by the RCN, and CIH (Housing Edition only).
