This one day CPD event is full of engaging activities which will allow those attending to reflect on their current

Best practice in the quality assurance for the new Apprenticeship Standards (England)

As part of our continued support, we are running a series of national quality improvement events aimed at all vocational sectors delivering new apprenticeship standards and EPA with City & Guilds. A workshop filled with engaging practical and other activities, aims to provide ideas for further developing your individual and centre practice when working with new apprentices in preparing them for their EPA professional discussion or interview. The workshop is aimed at Assessors/Trainers, Curriculum Managers, IQAs, Apprenticeship/WBL Managers, Quality Managers and others who may have a teaching, learning and/or assessment role within the delivery of the new apprenticeship standards. Employers are also welcome to attend.

Aims of the day;

  • To reflect on and explore your SWOT in preparing for and undertaking ‘on programme’ PDs or Interviews with apprentices
  • Are people competent and how do you know?
  • What is a professional discussion and what is an interview?
  • What are your apprenticeship assessment plans telling you about what the
  • PD/Interview will be assessing and how is it being graded?
  • What support materials are available from the employers chosen EPAS?
  • Revision planning for apprentices pre EPA- when, where and how - what support do employers, assessors and trainers require in this process?
  • Practice, practice, practice – what’s good and what’s not good?
  • To look at methods of embedding speaking and listening in FS in the EPA
  • preparation
  • How are you internally quality assuring/standardising your PD or Interview practice?
  • Resources - Building confidence in presenting to others and effective public speaking – City & Guilds SmartScreen Preparation Tool
  • Who are the IEPA assessors – build up your ‘strangers’ pre EPA to help prepare
  • the apprentice
  • CPD moving forward – what needs to be done now?

Refreshments - refreshments and lunch will be provided - if you have dietary requirements then please email advance@cityandguilds.com

Resources - you will be provided with a handbook on the day. Certificates and a digital copy of the handbook will be emailed out after the event

How do I pay? - If you are a registered City and Guilds Centre you may opt to pay on account under your usual credit terms by changing the payment method on the order form to 'pay by invoice' and providing the centre number when prompted. Any attendees who do not have a City and Guilds account will need to pay online using a credit card or debit card.

Tickets can be refunded up to 7 days before the event

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, but if your name is not on the register you may need proof of purchase

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes as long as we have been informed as this will affect the register and certificate
