Best Selling Songs of 1942 with Patricia Hammond & Matt Redman
Event Information
About this event
As part of Stroud Green Festival
Mezzo Patricia Hammond & multi-instrumentalist Matt Redman perform the top-selling songs of 1942.
80 years ago, people performed music in the home as much as they listened to recordings of it. Join mezzo Patricia Hammond and multi-instrumentalist Matt Redman as they perform the best-selling songs of the summer of 1942, as shown in UK sheet-music sales charts! Patricia and Matt will perform from the very same music sheets, and singing along is encouraged!
Songs purchased in their thousands in 1942 include the newly-composed Bluebirds Over the White Cliffs of Dover, the escapist Deep in the Heart of Texas, the exotic Jealousy, and Tangerine, ultra-romantic That Lovely Weekend, the jaunty Ma, I Miss our Apple Pie, and two favourites of war-brides: I'll Walk Beside You, and the Anniversary Waltz.
The concert will take place in Holy Trinity Gardens if the weather allows, otherwise in the hall.
*Please note 100% of ticket income goes to the artists. We don't limit Concession tickets to those of a certain age, but leave it up to your discretion as to what you can afford.
