Event description

Description

Blackwell's is delighted to welcome Bettany Hughes, to discuss her new book ‘Istanbul: a Tale of Three Cities'. She will be interviewed by Peter Frankopan, bestselling author of ‘The Silk Roads'.

Istanbul has always been a place where stories and histories collide and crackle, where the idea is as potent as the historical fact. This city with three names - Byzantium, Constantinople, Istanbul - resonates as an idea and a place, and overspills its boundaries - real and imagined. Based on meticulous research and new archaeological evidence, this captivating portrait of the momentous life of Istanbul is visceral, immediate and scholarly narrative history at its finest.

Join us for what is sure to be an enlightening evening. Unfortunately, owing to a previous engagement, Bettany will only be able to do a short signing following the event. We will have pre-signed copies to ensure everyone has the opportunity to purchase a special copy.

Tickets cost £7 per person and can be obtained by clicking on Tickets above, or from our Customer Service Department at Blackwell’s Bookshop, Broad Street, Oxford. Tickets for this event are transferable but not refundable. Tel: 01865 333 623 Email: events.oxford@Blackwells.co.uk
