Better decisions together?

A morning event investigating the value of participation in decision-making processes. Does involving more or different people actually make for better decisions? Is it 'just the right thing to do' or should we approach 'engagement' more critically? How do you know when it's working?

Bringing together a mix of policy-makers/civil servants, people from the worlds of tech and civic society and members of the public, we'll explore some practical steps for improving democracy.

We'll have a line-up of interesting and diverse speakers – from government and beyond (details coming soon).

Snacks will be provided and, of course, there'll be plenty of tea and coffee available.

------

This event is part of the Practical Democracy Project, a series of events organised by Delib dedicated to looking at how technology can best be used to make everyday improvements to the democratic process – with a particular focus on policy-making at local and central government levels.

Over the course of the series, we want to map out in practical terms how to create the best democratic experience for citizens, using technologies that shape people’s everyday lives; on the other side, we’ll be mapping out the optimal experience for government officials/policy makers/elected officials. The key point being that democratic processes are a two-sided affair, which need to be optimised for both citizens and government if they’re to work.
