Our Makerspace lecture room is accessed by two steps leading off the pavement on Randall Street and a Victorian staircase with bannister rail. Unfortunately we cannot provide access for wheelchairs but stewards are on standby to help people with mobility problems to ascend and descend the stairs.

Refreshments are available free of charge. Donations are encouraged!

Our speaker Hugh Waterhouse was formerly an archaeologist who once excavated a cemetery. He now stays above ground to explore Sheffield burial grounds, revealing their history and the lives of those at rest within them.

Wardsend Cemetery is the resting place of 30,000 Sheffielders. Their lives illuminate stories of conflict, craftmanship, tragedy, union agitation, and, as a finale, riot in the cemetery itself, and the imprisonment of the vicar and sexton.
