Event description
A free event for all practitioners working with children and adults to critically examine and move beyond the use of ACEs.

About this Event

Join Dr Jessica Taylor in a critical discussion of why ACEs is deficit based and not trauma informed, and how we can move beyond its use in our practice.

- ACEs is being used as a predictive model to forecast outcomes of abused and harmed children - why is this a concern?

- ACEs is not strength-based, it is another predictive deficit model - whilst being taught as a trauma-informed model.

- Learn how ACEs is already being used in harmful and dangerous ways around the world - and what we can do about it.

- Critically analyse the inconsistencies in the ACEs framework.

This free online event will take a critical look at how ACEs is used as the ‘explanation’ for mental health issues in adulthood, criminal behaviour, drug addiction, physical illness, disability, suicide attempts, self-harming and even being raped.

It is for any practitioner working with children and adults seeking to find ways to move beyond ACEs into a truly trauma-informed and strengths-based framework.
