What is Ayurveda and what will we learn?
Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga and is considered the science of life in Hindu Culture. Combining ancient knowledge and wisdom from the natural world around us, still today in Southern and Northern Parts of India and Sri Lanka there is a whole healthcare system around the useage of plants. In Ayurevda they beleieve that there is a cure for everything without the need to use anything against nature.
This philosophy is interweven within yoga philosophy with many of the same lessons being taught in the two subjects, acting and combing as forces that must be practcied together to enhance your life experience and longelivity.
Having helped thousands of student globally over the last 7 years through yoga and more recently Ayurveda, Krissi will teach you the fundamentals of Ayurveda in a learning environment which encourages students to ask questions, to repeat and soldify the knowledge in so that it stays with you when you leave the space.
Krissi will help you to understand your "Prakriti" (nature) and your "Vkiriti" (Imbalance)
Having spent the last 3 years travelling and living in India and recently rewarded her Diploma in Ayurveda and Panchakarma in Kannur, Kerala, South India. Krissi's teaching style is deeply rooted within a profound love and respect for Traditional Mysore Ashtanga and her own Teacher Stewart Gilchrist - she moulds together Modality to Traditional yoga philosophy and descipline.
This workshop is for anybody who has an interest in either yoga, holistic healthcare and wellbeing, the common world and natural world of plants, anybody interested in understanding energy in a deeper yet more logical way, that actually makes sense.
No pror experience or understanding of Ayurveda is needed to attend.
What is Vedic Chanting and what will we learn?
The Vedas (the oldest sacred texts of Ancient India) have been passed down for millennia in an unbroken lineage, transmitted orally via chanting, with pronounciation and tone perfectly preserved.
Joshua will guide you on a journey through this ancient and transformative practice, beiginning with a brief exploration of culture and ritualistic context that the practice grew from- following this Joshua will guide you onto the prnounciation of Sanskrit along with call and response. ( A practice where the teacher says first and the student repeats)
Joshua began practicing asana out of curiosity that stemmed from a fascination with hindu philosophy/ mythology and immediately fell in love with the sense of embodiment that it created.
Having spend extensive time styding in Mysore, India - his approach to sharing any practice is firmly rooted in the Indian Traditions and takes inspiration from his experience in Hatha, Iyengar and Ashtanga Yoga.
It is Vital for Joshua that whatever he shares - be it asana, pranayama, chanting - it has an expression of warmth, creativity and compassion.
