Event description
Join us for an engaging panel discussion on how to raise awareness of racial inequalities within LSE and how to keep the momentum going!

About this Event

October sees another action packed month of activities to celebrate BME staff and students, and to also raise awareness of racial inequalities within LSE. These events are a credit to the hard work of Embrace, the Student Union, staff and students of colour, and race equality allies, and we hope they continue and grow year on year.

But, how do we sustain the momentum created in October and move beyond a month? How do we address the systemic structural and cultural barriers facing our staff and students of colour? And how do we engage everyone in these discussions, not just the people being disadvantaged? Should LSE pursue the Race Equality Charter?

Join us for a Town Hall event on Monday 21st October to discuss this, with an expert panel, Chaired by LSE Director, Minouche Shafik. We will have a lively debate, with questions from the audience, followed by a networking lunch. We invite you to ask questions for our panel members prior to the event. You can ask questions here.

Other Panellists:

  • Zulum Elumogo, LSESU General Secretary
  • Dr Anouska Nithyanandan , Grants Application Manager, Research and Innovation and EmbRace Committee Member
  • Professor Ijeoma F. Uchegbu from UCL, Pro-Vice Provost - Africa and The Middle East
  • Dr Derek King, Research Fellow , Care Policy and Evaluation Centre (CPEC)
