Overview

Beyond Bonding: What Attachment Really Looks Like in Practice Workshop with Georgina Sturmer and Jo Oxley

Discover how attachment theory becomes real in the therapy room. In this workshop, we’ll explore how you can embody a secure base, attend to co-regulation, and respond to relational rupture and repair. Expect brief experiential work, reflection, and discussion. This session also offers an introduction to the CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Attachment-Based Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

Learning Objective Participants Can Expect From This Event

  • Understand how a therapist can embody the secure base in a session through presence, attunement, and repair.
  • Recognise how co-regulation and the therapist’s nervous system shape safety and connection in the room.
  • Reflect on your own attachment patterns and how they influence your therapeutic stance and capacity for repair.

Who is This Workshop Appropriate For?

  • Qualified counsellors, psychotherapists, and trainees who wish to deepen their relational practice with an attachment-informed approach. Ideal for those curious about how theory translates into lived experience.

How May This Workshop Impact Your Practice?

  • You will leave with clearer awareness of the subtle relational dynamics that affect trust and connection with clients. You’ll gain practical insights into bringing calm, curiosity, and compassion into your sessions - and curiosity about how you might apply an attachment lens to your practice.
