Every year Ewe’s celebrate Hogbestotso, a festival that commemorates the journey from their former home of Notsie in Togo to their present home in Ghana. Fast forward to Ghanaian independence and not only is the region divided but a line has been placed down the middle of a community.

Come and watch award winning short film Agorkoli – Cause of the Hogbetsotso followed by a discussion

Film Synopsis

Agorkoli – Cause of the Hogbetsotso is an Ewe history that explains how the Dogbo’s and the Notsie’s lived happily under King Agorkoli for a long time, until a dispute between a Dogbo Leader (Aga) and a Notsie leader (Sri) results in a series of catastrophic events that leads to the enslavement of the Dogbos by the Notsie’s.
