Event description

Description

This course addresses the challenge of how to deliver marine policy effectively from the coastal zone to offshore. It aims to develop your understanding of how marine spatial planning can become more than lines on a map, but can support effective decision making for good policy development, marine management and stakeholder engagement across all sectors.

Drawing on 15 years of practical experience from two of the UK’s leading experts in Integrated Marine Management, we cover decision making in government from policy to regulation; an introduction to Integrated Marine Management; and the practical delivery of Integrated Marine Management within government, from marine spatial planning, through management of human activity, to effective compliance and enforcement.

This course will be of interest to anyone who wants to develop their understanding of how government delivers Integrated Marine Management across a diverse policy portfolio and why good marine governance must be supported by good marine government. This includes marine spatial planners, policy makers, regulators and advisors as well as coastal groups, marine consultants, marine trade organisations, NGOs academics and lawyers. It is also of interest to those who work in the terrestrial domain but have an interest in marine policy and regulation, such as Local Authority planners and coastal officers.
