About this event

Seeking to address the theme of this years festival this event Beyond Poetry is an opportunity to view the small exhibition dùthchas within the Library.

Photographer, Tom Astbury, will lead a short talk about this selection from a series of landscape pictures made as a response to the poetry of Duncan Bàn MacIntyre (1724 - 1812) and an exploration of the landscape which inspired him.

Tom's talk will begin at 1045 hrs. This will be followed by readings of some of Duncan bàn’s poetry in Scots Gaelic, the language in which they were created and shared, by Ailsa Morgan a local student of Gaelic.

About Tom

Tom Astbury is a Dunblane based photographer, who after many years of working in the film and television industry has returned to his photographic roots.

He has been revisiting his archive of industrial documentary photography and working on a number of new photographic projects, both in the local landscape and elsewhere.

Tom is a volunteer with the Stirling Photography Festival and has previously exhibited within the festival.
