Event Information
About this Event
Beyond The 9 to 5: Freelancer, is the first in a series of free workshops aimed at sharing industry tips, skills and knowledge with emerging creatives, we like to think of it as all the things they didn't teach you in Education (but you wished they had).
This workshop is aimed at those who are considering starting a career as a creative freelancer but aren’t sure where to begin. Our special guest facilitator Parveer Braich will share her top tips gained over a decade in industry.
Parv will share with attendees all the things she wished someone had been told her when she set out on her freelancer journey. The workshop will cover practical tips such as how to prepare templates, schedules of works, invoices and bookkeeping, creating contracts, terms and conditions and how to set those all important rates. Parv will also share lifestyle tips for managing your workload, setting yourself deadlines and creating a better working environment.
We will close with a question + answer session with participants.

“My journey within industry over the past 10 years has included working in both in-house and creative freelance roles. I have managed design studios for creative agencies, working closely with project and marketing managers, co-ordinating the graphics, working with digital developers, technical producers and 3D design freelancers. This experience has informed the trajectory of my career and I now begin to carve a pathway into entering the educational sector, where I hope to impart my knowledge and support others in the field of design”
