Mushin in Japanese and Wuxin in Chinese (無心 "no mind") is a mental state.
Zen and Daoist meditators attempt to reach this state, as well as those trained in martial arts. They also practice this mental state during everyday activities. The term is shortened from mushin no shin, a Zen expression meaning the mind without mind and is also referred to as the state of "no-mindness".
In essence, a mind not fixed or occupied by thought or emotion and thus open to everything.
Mushin happens when the mind is free from thoughts of anger, fear, or ego in everyday life, when there is an absence of discursive thought and judgment, so we totally free to act and react towards life without hesitation, free from that inner critic, with our minds in a state of flow. When the state of flow is interrupted that is when the mind can become injured, and wellbeing harmed.
Here at Zen-Mushin we are all about healthy minds and healthy bodies and we offer o range of bespoke solutions to support wellbeing both for individuals and workplaces.
From bespoke tailored retreats for your senior leaders, to training tailored to your workplace, wellbeing literacy and health, inclusive workplaces and people is what we are all about.
