Description

The changing face of food culture in Middlesbrough - Middlesbrough Food Summit, 15th November 2017

The past few years have seen significant and radical changes to Middlesbrough’s food culture. The town now boasts not only a vibrant food nightlife with a resurgence of high quality local independent restaurants, cafes and bars, but a thriving movement of local and sustainable food procurement, helping the town become a place where local people can eat good quality, healthy food that is easy to buy, offers value for money and is produced locally wherever possible.

Middlesbrough’s Food Partnership is holding a Food Summit on Wednesday 15th November 2017 to celebrate these achievements, to provide best practice and disseminate its strategic vision.

There will be inspirational talks by keynote and national guest speakers, including Prof. Martin Caraher, Centre for Food Policy, City University London, as well as Teesside’s food heroes – those inspirational people that are changing the face of Middlesbrough’s food culture, who are leading the way and putting the town on the map.

Other exciting and informative elements to the Food Summit will include a range of workshops on replicable best practice, a walk through tour of Middlesbrough new food quarter, site visits of local food business champions, a meet the producer/ farmers’ market event and a variety of food demonstrations and activities.

The itinerary for the day and more details will follow soon.
