Event description
Exploring Catholic Social Teaching as it is lived out by 8 of Scotland's leading lay-apostolate organisations.

About this Event

The day will provide an introduction to 8 of Scotland’s leading lay-apostolate groups whose work witnesses to Christ in the world through engagement with civil society, and service to the marginalised in Scotland and overseas.

Through dynamic workshops, games, prayer and reflection students will be introduced to some of the core ideas of Catholic Social Teaching, and the mission of organisations who live their faith ‘beyond the walls’ of church buildings.

The day is an excellent opportunity for students to connect with issues of faith in action both for their engagement in the life of the school community and ahead of choosing to complete the Caritas Award later in their studies.

Organisations participating on this occasion include; Justice and Peace Scotland, the Catholic Parliamentary Office, the Bishops' Committee for Interreligious Dialogue, SCIAF, SPRED, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Scotland, the Apostleship of the Sea, and Missio Scotland.

Schools are invited to bring a group of 4 students (+ 1 member of staff).

The cost per group is £30, and includes lunch.

This event is offered to schools at a heavily subsidised price thanks to Justice and Peace Scotland, and the UK Province of the Xaverian Missionaries.
