Imagine a time when 3-D printing means we can create anything we want at home. Connectivity and virtual presence are so advanced that it really feels “like being in the same room”. Suddenly, most of the reasons we’ve ever had to travel fall away.
But it would be a brave person who claimed that personal travel will cease altogether in the future. So what will we travel for and how? At this participatory workshop, we'll first hear some distinct perspectives - from anthropology, economics and architecture - before ourselves confronting a world "beyond travel".
We'll start with coffee and tea. Towards the end of the workshop, we'll move onto more interesting beverages. Those attending will receive a full report of the event.
The workshop is being jointly organised by UCL Centre for Transport Studies (as part of its CREATE project) and the Association of Professional Futurists.
