The BFBS Inter-Services Downhill Mountain Bike Champsionships will be held at Revolution Bike Park on 03 - 04 September 2019.

The event is open to everyone currently serving in HM Forces, no matter what your ability.

Race entry is £70 per person payable on the day to the venue. This cost is heavily subsidised and includes two days of riding, uplift service, race timing, number boards, food, medical cover and prizes.

Race information: The 2019 BFBS Inter-Services Downhill Championships will comprise the following:

1. Team race: The team race will be competed between the RNRM, Army, and RAF Teams only. Each Team will consist of up to 8 Service Team Riders (with the fastest 6 times counted, which must include a minimum of 1 female). The Service with the lowest amalgamated time from their fastest 6 riders, including minimum 1 female, will be crowned 2019 Inter-Service Team Champions.

2. Individual race: This is open to everyone. The fastest male and fastest female of the day will be crowned 2019 Inter-Services Champion.

3. Single-Service races: The Army and Navy will run single service open races, open to all entrants within those services. The fastest Army and Navy rider of the day will be crowned thier 2019 Service Champion. Mon 02 Sep



Mon 02 Sept 19:

1. Arrival at Capel Curig, book into accommodation from 1530hrs.

Tue 03 Sep 19:

1. Participants report to the Army Tent at Revolution Bike Park for Registration from 0800hrs.

2. Track walk from 0830.

3. Track opens for female only practise 1000hrs.

4. Track opens for all practise from 1100hrs.

5. Track closes and track walk commences 1630hrs.

Wed 04 Sep 19:

1. Final practice 0900 – 1100hrs.

2. Race commences 1130 – 1630hrs.

3. Prize Giving 1645hrs.


Race Entry Requirements:

1. You must be a serving member of HM Forces.

2. All riders are required to wear a securely fitted full face helmet which conforms to CE standard.

3. All riders are required to wear knee pads. Goggles, gloves, body armour are not mandatory, but are highly recommended.

4. A servicable and suitable bike capable of off road competition, which is maintained to a safe working order, is required. It must have a front and rear brake, and handlle bar plugs fitted. A full suspension Downhill specific bike is highly recommended, but not essential. Bikes with 140mm+ of travel may be used. Any bike deemed unsuitable or unservicable by the event staff on the day will not be authorised for use. If unsure, please contact the event organiser.

5. All competitors must read Revolution Bike Park's Rules and Safety Code, and sign the online decleration prior to the event. This will be checked by the event organisers and you won't be able to ride until this is done. Click the link here to do this now:



What is the race format?

This is an individual, time trial event. All competitors race the same track, one at a time, against the clock. Fastest to the bottom wins. Each rider will have two race runs, and the fastest of the two will count. Riders must complete a minimum of two practice runs prior to racing.

What are the categories?

The race categories will be: Team, Male, Female.

Will there be prizes?

Yes. There will be prizes for the fastest team, and the fastest three male and female of the day. There will also be prizes for the Single-Service fastest riders.

Will I be fed?

Yes. There is food available at Capel Curig, and your race entry also includes a lunchtime burger at Revolution Bike Park. Monster Energy will be on hand to provide you with an energy boost when required. There are catering facilities at the Bike Park for anything additional you might like (at your own cost).

Is there an uplift (and what is it)?

Yes. Revolution Bike Park will be running thier extremely efficient uplift service. (An uplift is essentially getting a lift in a vehicle to the top of the hill with your bike).

Which track at Revolution Bike Park is being used?

This will be revealed shortly prior to the event.

Can I practice the track before race day?

Yes. The track will be open for practice the day before the race, and also the morning of race day.

I'm a novice - can I enter?

Yes. Riders of all abilities are welcome to come and give it a try. The track will be challenging to riders of all abilities. All features will be rollable. (Rollable is a term used to describe a trail feature that can be rolled without your wheels leaving the ground. Any jumps or significant drop-offs will have an alternative rollable route).

Can I ride the other trails at Revoultion Bike Park during the event?

No. For safety reasons, only the marked track may be used.

Are helmet cameras permitted?


Can I spectate?

Yes - please do. If you would like to spectate, you can sign up as a marshal. Without the valuable marshals, the event cannot take place. Alternatively, just come along and support the riders. The atmosphere will be great and is only made better by having more spectators and supporters, so come along and see what this exciting sport is all about.

Is there parking?

Yes. There is plenty of free parking at Revolution Bike Park. However, people travelling from the same place (e.g. Capel Curig) should share transport wherever possible to minimise vehicles.
