VIDEO GAMES DAY 2016 (in association with GameMakers)
Thursday 3rd November 2016
Futurelabs - 1 Eastgate - Leeds - LS2 7LY
Video Games Day is the BFI Certification Unit’s annual event for the video games sector in the UK. Since the introduction of the Video Games Tax Relief in 2014, the BFI Certification Unit has presented the games tax relief at a number of video games events and conferences around the UK. In addition, we run our own annual video games day where we promote the games tax relief as well as providing sessions on alternative finance options, debates and discussions on key issues in the games industry, key note speakers and offering local indie developers the opportunity to demo their games.
This year in association with the newly established GameMakers Leeds, we open with a key note speech from Jamie Sefton, Managing Director of Game Republic and Simon Barratt of Barog Games will outline his new GameMaker Leeds venture.
In addition to providing advice and guidance on the games tax relief, sessions will include how to finance the games tax relief, presentations from the UK Games Fund, War Child and Creative England; a session on diverse representation of games characters; discussion on the film/TV/Games Crossover; and lastly Brexit and what it means for the games sector.
There will be opportunities to connect with fellow members of the games sector during a catered lunch and an evening drinks reception. The event features playable demos of some exceptional games being developed in the North of England including several VR titles. Any developers or publishers seeking information about the video games cultural test can book a 1-2-1 session with the BFI’s cultural test analysts during the event.
