About this event

Hobbies • Knitting

Come through for a cosy, feel-good afternoon of crochet, prosecco and connection. Whether you’re a total beginner or haven’t picked up a hook in years, this creative session is the perfect way to relax, learn something new, and meet other Black women in a welcoming space.

To celebrate Black History Month, we’ll have prosecco on deck and will be spinning classics and deep cuts while you learn the basics of crochet from a supportive instructor. You’ll leave with a new skill, good vibes, and something stitched by your own hands!

What’s Included:

  • All crochet materials provided (hooks, yarn, beginner pattern)
  • Prosecco, non alcoholic fizz and nibbles
  • A curated playlist of laid-back R&B, neo-soul, and nostalgic bops
  • A relaxed, community-centred environment
  • Take home your tools and what you make!

We’re keeping it small and cosy so everyone gets attention and space to work. Spaces are limited - grab your spot before it sells out!

Your Teacher: Chantel Roderique of Cocoa and Papaya

Chantel Roderique has a rich background in the fashion industry, as a fashion designer for menswear and kids wear, also across graphics and knitwear. The creator then set up her own brand called Cocoa and Papaya which draws on the essence of childhood, music, movies, magic and ‘make believe’ to create handmade heirloom crochet dolls, toys and accessories.

Inspired by motherhood, the creator draws from experiences of her mother and daughter bond and creative past, carefully selecting high quality materials to create products for special occasions. Cocoa and Papaya aims to bring a bit of sparkle, positivity and joy to the world with her handmade heirloom gifts.

Chantel invites you to unleash your creativity and learn how to crochet your own unique masterpiece.
