Event description

Description

A Christmas Carol Service to mark the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, held jointly by the British-German Association and the Christuskirche Knightsbridge with top London choir “Canticum.”

The British-German Association’s members, friends and families are invited to join us in this special celebration of Christmas on the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The superb London choir “Canticum” will be conducted by Mark Forkgen. The organist will be Jane Parker-Smith. The service will be led by Pastor Georg Amann with an address by Pastorin Doktor Verena Schlarb.

Lessons, carols and anthems will be in English or German with translations provided. German readings and translations will be taken from the new Lutherbibel 2017.

Following the service, there will be a reception in the Bonhoeffer-Saal, with traditional Stollen, Weihnachtsgebäck (ginger biscuits) and a warming glass of Glühwein.

Given Luther’s influence on the German language, the event will support Youthbridge, part of the BGA charity which promotes the teaching of German in British schools. The BGA will also make a donation to the Christuskirche, which is supporting Glass Door, a charity for homeless people in West London. To cover the costs of the service and support these charities, we are asking for a minimum donation of £20.

Space in the church is limited, and we expect high demand for this unique event. So please reserve your place by clicking on Tickets and following the instructions.
