We’re so excited to announce BGF x Becoming Festival, brought to you by Black Girl Fest and Penguin.
Michelle Obama is returning to London in April, for a sold-out event at the O2 Arena as part of her ongoing international book tour forBecoming. To celebrate the success of her book, Black Girl Fest will be hosting a FREE 3-day festival of talks and workshops inspired by the themes of the former First Lady’s memoir. Though Michelle Obama herself will not be appearing at the Festival, attendees will have the chance to celebrate values raised in the book through the huge variety of events on offer.
Speakers include Diane Abbott MP, the Shadow Home Secretary; best-selling novelist Dorothy Koomsom and Yomi Adegoke and Elizabeth Uviebinené, authors of the bestselling Black Girl bible ‘Slay in Your Lane’.
For ages 11 and upwards, BGF x Becoming Festival will offer poster making workshops, bitesize history lessons on Black British feminism, creative writing workshops, and in conversations between brilliant black women within the creative industries.
The festival will be taking place at Canada Water Library from Tuesday 9 - Thursday 11th April, from 10am - 7:30pm each day.
