About this event
UPDATE: If you're keen to join this group but it is fully booked, we recommend joining the waiting list. We anticipate there may be some movement with spaces and cancellations.
For many bisexual individuals, the journey of self-understanding is made harder by the experience of bi-erasure: being overlooked, doubted, or told their identity is just a “phase.” These messages can even come from within the LGBTQ+ community. Without spaces that affirm bisexuality as a valid, complex, and meaningful way of existing, it can be difficult to feel seen, accepted, or safe to explore who you truly are.
This free therapy group offers a supportive, inclusive environment where your identity is respected and celebrated, where shared stories can dissolve isolation, and where you can claim your place in the world with confidence and pride.
What is it?
We’re launching a professionally facilitated, group therapy series, created specifically for Bi+ adults (18+). In a time of uncertainty and challenge, these weekly sessions will offer a space to come together, be heard, and make further sense of your experiences of being Bi+.
We are offering these sessions free of charge, on the condition you as a participant can attend and contribute to each one (or at least 80% of them) to make the most of them, collectively supporting the group and the work.
How will it work?
Starting on 1st October, we will be hosting weekly 2-hour group sessions.
Sessions will run for 10 weeks in total until 10th December, on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30pm (with a one-week break for the October Week holiday on Weds 15th October).
Led by a team of two experienced therapists, these sessions are designed to provide a safe, supportive environment for individuals to share, reflect, and explore both personal and collective experiences. Together, we aim to foster healing, connection, and a sense of community.
Why are we offering this group?
Creating a space like this - where individuals and collectives can speak openly and be heard - is not just valuable, it can be transformative. The therapeutic power of shared experience is well-documented, particularly in communities that often grapple with loneliness. We aim to foster healing, personal growth and community.
Who is running the group?
Room for Therapy is a Scottish Counselling and Psychotherapy agency dedicated to expanding access to the transformative power of therapy. They are passionate about bringing therapeutic support to new audiences in innovative ways, ensuring that underserved communities have the space and support they need to heal, grow, and thrive.
LGBT Health and Wellbeing is Scotland’s LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing charity. We exist to improve the health, wellbeing, and equality of LGBTQ+ people in Scotland. We offer mental health support, specialist services, community spaces, and work with our community and partners to reduce health inequalities and make everyday services more inclusive.
Who we welcome
This group is for anyone aged 18 or over who identifies as Bi+ .
If you're attracted to more than one gender, however you describe that, you're welcome here. This includes people who identify as bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, queer, omnisexual, fluid, or are exploring their identity without using labels.
We welcome people of all genders — including non-binary, genderqueer, and gender non-conforming people. We have included a question at the end "I can confirm that I identify as Bi+ / am attracted to multiple genders in line with the description of the group." Just to let you know that anyone who books who does not agree with this statement will have their order cancelled, as this is an indication that they don't meet the criteria for the group.
Registration
Spaces are limited to 10 people.
If you're interested in being part of the group, please register via this Eventbrite form.
We will then arrange a short conversation with you to answer any questions you might have and decide together if the group feels like the right next step for you. We will also use this opportunity to make our sessions are as accessible as possible and will be offering access support.
After registration, if something changes and you can no longer attend the group, please let us know as soon as you can so your place becomes available for someone else.
