Can I build my own wheel (from parts I've bought) in the class instead?

Accepted Answer

That's not an option we currently offer in this class. We did initially try running classes like this but found that around a third of attendees were coming to the class with incompatible parts and/or spokes of the wrong length.

Question 2

Will each person have a truing stand, spoke tensiometer, dishing gauge, etc?

Accepted Answer

Yes, each person will have a full set of tools to work with. We have a range of tool types, affordable ones as well as industry standards (like a couple of Park Tool TS2.2 truing jigs) as we realise that not everyone will want to spend £300 on a truing jig or £100 on a tensiometer.

How do I get to the BITSB workshop?

Accepted Answer

Getting to the BITSB workshop inside Access Storage is easy.

If you're coming by bus, there are stops for the E8, H37, 117, 235 and 237 just 30 seconds away from Access.

If you're coming by train, the nearest stations are Isleworth and Osterley (Osterly is on the Piccadilly Line tube).

Can I drive to the BITSB workshop?

Accepted Answer

If you're coming by car there is sometimes parking available on the forecourt in front of the Access building but this can't be guaranteed. There is paid-for additional parking in nearby roads like Thornbury Road, for example.

Question 5

Can I cycle to the BITSB workshop?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and if you're riding, we have some space in the workshop to store a few bikes during the class.

Question 6

How long is the lunch break usually, and do I need to bring my own food?

Accepted Answer

The lunch break is normally 45-60 minutes and there are some cafes and other shops nearby where you can buy food. If you have any special dietary requirements, it may be a better idea to bring a packed lunch. You can eat in the workshop, the local park, etc (Thornbury Park is just across the road).
