A lunch time joint event with Oxford University and BIFM Home Counties and BIFM Midlands region. This is held in the wonderful Sheldonian Theatre Oxford, and is hosted by the University of Oxford. We will provide an interesting selection of guest speakers, followed by a light lunch and time for networking. We do hope that you will join us.

Sustainability in Motorsport (Renault F1)

Martin Cummings will provide a detailed insight into managing sustainability in a Formula 1 racing team. This will be an insightful look in to how they have incorporated the 4P’s of sustainability at Renault; People, Planet, Profit, and Posterity. Martin has recently completed his MBA at the Henley Business School where he researched into this and has extensively improved Renult’s F1 credentials as a result. There will also be an opportunity meet Kayleigh Messenger who can give further in-sight to women in motorsport.

University of Oxford – managing sustainability in a diverse estate

Harriet Waters, the University’s Head of Sustainability will talk of the challenges of creating and implementing carbon reduction across this diverse estate with multiple stakeholders. Harriet will cover what environmental sustainability looks like at Oxford University covering some of their key areas of work and projects. This will be discussed in terms of both the opportunities and barriers, taking into consideration the University’s diverse estate and operations, as well as engagement with staff and students. In addition, Lisa Hofen, Deputy Head of FM at the University will explore how FM can bring a practical application of sustainability in the workplace, including effective waste management, benefits of an Environmental Management System and a sustainable workforce.

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Claire Hennessy, Head of Operational Estates and Facilities Services and Mark Bristow, Energy Project Manager will explain the challenges and successes in their innovative energy link project, which links two large hospital sites across the city.

BIFM Sustainability Special Interest Group

Sunhil Shah will talk about the work of the BIFM’s Sustainability SIG.
