Description

BIFM South Region CPD Event – Fire Detection and Suppression

Wednesday 27th June –1730 for 1800

WSCC, County Hall, West Street, Chichester, PO19 1RQ

With recent high-profile fires, the issues of fire detection and fire suppression have never been more prominent in people’s minds. The need for compliant systems to effectively detect fires and suppression systems to control or extinguish them to protect people and property is of paramount importance.

UK fire alarm regulations can feel less than straightforward especially if you are a facilities manager responsible for fire safety. Fire alarm regulations form part of ‘The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005’, known as the ‘RRO’. In addition, the UK government recommends that all fire alarm and detection systems should be installed and maintained in accordance with the relevant British Standard, BS 5839.

This presentation is in two parts and looks at water mist systems as an alternative to sprinkler systems, giving the pros and cons of each. It also covers the updated fire detection and alarm standards BS5839-1:2017. It gives an overview of the changes to the standard and what you need to be aware of.

Our speakers for the evening will be Lee Thompson, Head of Strategic Marketing, Senseco Systems Ltd.

This evening is open to all, including non-members and we encourage you to invite friends and colleagues. We would like to thank West Sussex County Concil for hosting this event and providing refreshments and our speakers for sharing their knowledge and experience.
