BIFM South Region CPD Event – Agile Working

Wednesday 25th October 1730 for 1800

Linx International Group, Unit 10, Claylands Road, Bishops Waltham, SO32 1QD

Smart Working, Agile Working, New Ways of Working or Flexible Working?

Call it what you will .... workplaces featuring shared desking and alternative work settings are here to stay.

When people discuss agile and flexible working instinctively the focus is on flexible hours, hot desking or home working. Do we have a real understanding of the terminology? So what is “agile working”. How does it differ from “flexible working” and other terms often encompassed by the phrase “new ways of working”.

The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) paper on Agile Working which certainly gives plenty of thought to what agile working isn’t and what agility is, but it is difficult to extract a succinct definition of agile working. It suggests “work is an activity, not a place”, which has led some to the term “location independent working”.

BIFM’s magazine, FM World, produced an article called Test of Agility summarizing BT’s thinking and experience on the subject. For BT flexible working agile working is the new paradigm, “a transformational tool” that is the cornerstone of their property and people strategy providing gains on cost, productivity and sustainability which benefit business, employee and customer.

Our speaker for this month’s topic of Agile Working is Marian Conn. For the last 7 years, Marian has worked as an interim manager, external consultant and embedded resource delivering Workplace Strategy, Change Management and Communications on Agile Working projects across the UK and Europe. She'll be sharing with us her learnings from projects with 10 very different clients and asking what it really takes to make Agile Working work.

We would like to thank Linx International for hosting this event at their main UK Training Centre and for providing refreshments and our speaker for sharing her knowledge and experience.
