Description

Do good, feel good…

Be part of the WORLD’S largest movement for litter free seas, making a difference to our communities and our planet.

Join Live Here Love Here for the launch of the Big Beach Clean Weekend as part of the International Coastal Clean up!

Live Here Love Here, proudly supported by volunteers from Coca-Cola HBC, will engage local businesses and communities to collect the marine litter on our beautiful beaches. We will also record the litter to feed into the Ocean Conservancy data collection, a global initiative to tackle the plight of plastic.

The International Coastal Clean up has brought together 13 million people from 150 countries to be part of the world’s largest volunteer effort to protect the ocean. Volunteers have collected over 250 million pounds of litter along our coastlines and waterways!

Event details:

Live Here Love Here will provide a brief at 8.45am sharp to volunteers at Portavogie Beach. After a short introduction, volunteers will pick up the provided equipment from Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful staff and begin to collect and record litter items. After cleaning, volunteers meet back at The Quays Restaurant to enjoy a free lunch.

Registration and RSVP:

An RSVP helps us estimate the number of volunteers coming to the clean up. If you are a group or business attending the clean up, please RSVP as normal on the Eventbrite page, accurately gauging the number of volunteers you will bring. You do NOT need to print out your Eventbrite RSVP.

What to bring:

We recommend that volunteers wear sturdy, close-toed shoes and dress for Northern Irish weather! Please help us cut down on waste and bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated during the clean up. Make sure to check the forecast before heading out so you come prepared, but we will be cleaning rain or shine! We will have all the supplies you need to clean up--litter pickers, bin bags, gloves--but please feel free to bring your own.

What we provide:

- Relevant equipment including litter data cards

- Experienced staff to manage and coordinate clean-up activities on the day

- Health and safety risk assessment and briefing

- Appropriate waste collection with local authority

- Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful will submit all data on behalf of participants to Ocean Conservancy

You can also log the types of litter you collect by downloading the Clean Swell app before the event. Make sure to label your data ‘LHLH’ so we can track it as part of BIG Beach Clean! www.oceanconservancy.org/cleanswell
