Description

Interpreting God

Come and join us at the first Big Breakfast of 2019 with Jared Michelson.
“That’s fine if it works for you.” Why is it that when speaking about faith today this sort of response, which maintains that religious belief is merely a matter of personal preference, feels more and more common? In the twentieth century it was increasingly felt that traditional ways of thinking about God failed to be ‘relevant’ to modern men and women, which led to a sea-change in Christian’s thinking about God. However, after nearly a century of rethinking God, the result has been a contemporary situation in which belief in God seems increasingly unnecessary and even unattractive. At the Big Breakfast, we will reflect on the question of whether this modern portrait of God actually is any more relevant, or whether—surprisingly—older modes of thinking about God might have surprising ways of resonating with modern men and women.

Jared Michelson is Lead Pastor at Cornerstone in St Andrews.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast - it's free but a donation is very welcome.
