Big Brum Theatre in Education company would like to invite artists with an interest in writing to join us for 2 hour workshop exploring WRITING AS AN ACTIVIST with Suriya Aisha.

Suriya Aisha's work originates in poetry, but she has worked across wider disciplines including theatre, live art and spoken word. In 2016 Suriya was commissioned to write a new play for Live Lunch – an initiative led by the Royal Court. Nine Nights enjoyed sell-out readings at The Royal Court and Birmingham REP. She was commissioned to write Flee for primary tour by Big Brum as a new writer to TIE which toured schools in 2018. . She has also launched a peer and social support network - UNMUTED for young people of colour who identify as LGBTQI.

We will begin the workshop at 1pm so please begin to arrive at 12.30pm so we can start promptly. We will have a short coffee break and then end the session for 3pm.

This workshop is free of charge but there are limited spaces so you will need to book your place. This is on a first come, first serve basis.
