Enhance the Environment

Date: Thursday 28 September
Time: 5.30pm – 7pm
Venue: University of Kent, Canterbury Campus

What is Big Data?
How does it affect you; the decisions you make; the services you receive; and the environment that you live in? This autumn the Business and Local Government Data Research Centre (BLG) are running a free lecture series at the University of Kent. This will be open to the general public, private and public sector employees, university staff and students to attend. Come along to hear experts from the public and private sectors, and the world of academia explore what Big Data can do to enhance the environment, evolve business, and empower society! Speakers will discuss their views and experiences, and will then join a panel to answer audience queries.

Event details:
Big Data is playing a large part in the areas of green infrastructure; agriculture; waste management; renewable energy; amongst others, and much work is being done in these areas. On Thursday 28 September 2017, join us and our expert panel at the University of Kent, Canterbury Campus to hear how Big Data is positively affecting the natural world that we live in.

Andrew Lovett, Professor of Environment Sciences at the University of East Anglia, and lead on the mapping public access to green infrastructure research stream at BLG, will lead this session and be joined by:
• Mike Rose, WorkSmart programme lead at Defra
• Andrew Gadd, Company Manager at Footprint Services
• Jo Judge, Chief Executive Officer at National Biodiversity Network

The panel will discuss their views and experiences on the ways that Big Data can enhance the environment, and will then join a panel to answer audience queries.
