About the speakers

Christine Kinnear is the founder and CEO of With Insight Education C.I.C, a not-for-profit organisation that she set up to increase the number of black-heritage pupils progressing to top ranked universities as a gateway to a more prosperous future.

Malachi McIntosh is Editor and Publishing director of Wasafiri magazine. He previously co-led the Runnymede Trust’s award-winning 'Our Migration Story' project and spent four years as a lecturer in postcolonial literature at the University of Cambridge.

Sherelle Davids is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology at LSE. She researches how Widening Participation departments in England put policy that targets by ethnicity into practice.

About the event series

Everyone’s talking about getting back to normal. But, when it comes to WP, is that enough? As we all look forward to the post-pandemic world, should we be aiming to restore WP practices to the way they were before? Or does this unique moment afford us the opportunity to change the way we work for the better?

Causeway presents ‘Big Idea, Small Idea’, a series of one-hour lunchtime talks on the key issues that will shape the way we do outreach work in coming years. Each speaker will present a big idea that will transform our sector in the long-term alongside a small idea that will improve how we work right now. These uplifting and inspiring talks will interrogate some of the fundamental assumptions that underlie approaches to WP and social mobility, while also improving the quality of your outreach work tomorrow.
