Event description

The Big Welsh Walk is back – and it’s bigger and better!

Following on from the success of the Big Welsh Walk in 2017 and 2018, we are thrilled to offer a bigger and better #BigWelshWalk challenge event on Saturday 3 October 2020.

Join us to walk through the beautiful scenery of Chirk Castle and find hidden gems in the Clwydian Range, the Ceiriog Valley and beyond.

Supported by players of People's Postcode Lottery, this year’s event offers even more variety. We have led routes for those people who may be first-timers, or who prefer to let someone else do the navigating! We have new longer self-guided routes which require map-reading skills, stamina and determination.

There are routes for people with different levels of fitness, from first-timers to regular ramblers - even furry dog-friends are welcome (although you may have to lift them over a few stiles!).

Get involved

Taking part is easy - just select the route you'd like to walk and pop your details in the form and we look forward to seeing you at Chirk Castle.

Members' discount

Current Ramblers members will receive a £10 discount on the ticket price.

If you’d like to become a member today, please visit www.ramblers.org.uk/get-involved/join-the-ramblers to join. (Please note: you will need to wait 24 hours after signing up to become a member, and then you will need to get in touch with our Supporter Care Team to receive your membership number. You can then use your membership number in order to receive the members' discount on the Big Welsh Walk 2020).

Fundraising Challenge

For anyone willing to fundraise registration for the event will be subsidised, with a ticket price of £10.

Why not celebrate the great outdoors and highlight the importance of walking by taking on a walking challenge as part of the Big Welsh Walk. We need you to be part of the solution. The Ramblers hopes that by encouraging more people to walk and limit short journeys by car we can improve the outlook on climate change, lessen the strain on our health service and enable more people to engage, enjoy and appreciate everything that our great outdoors has to offer. To opt for the fundraising challenge, all we ask is that walkers aim to raise a minimum fundraising target of £150. The Ramblers fundraising team will be on hand to provide you with many ways of achieving this. 50% of the fundraising target will need to be raised three weeks prior to the event to ensure we can guarantee your place at the event on 3 October. Please email fundraising@ramblers.org.uk with any questions.

We can offer discounts for groups of six or more and for family groups. Please email for more details bigwelshwalk@ramblers.org.uk.
