Bike Parade to Festival, Ellesmere Port, 9 July 2017
Sun 9 July 2017, 11:00 – 17:00 BST
Sustrans is recreating the popular 19th century Bike Carnivals of Ellesmere Port, with a decorated musical bike ride to the National Waterways Museum and a free day of bike activities at the Bikes and Boats Festival.
Bring your bikes and join a led ride with live music to the festival to celebrate Ellesmere Port’s rich historic past of bicycles and boats. Generate bubbles, smoothies and music with your own remarkable pedal power, and explore the Museum’s amazing collection of stories and boats (free entry during the Festival).
The bike ride is 1.6 miles along a flat traffic-free canal towpath and roads closed to cars, suitable for all ages. There will be prizes for the best-decorated bikes. Meet at Civic Hall on Civic Way and join the parade to cycle down to the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port.
Bikes and Boats Festival is a partnership project between the National Waterways Museum Ellesmere Port and Sustrans Community Places Project
