About this event

Travel & Outdoor • Other

Join Sustainability Team member Nigel Blandford for a guided bike tour from campus to the beautiful Kersal Wetlands – a local wildlife haven you might not even know is there.

This time, we’ll be bird watching along the way with binoculars kindly provided by the Peel Park Rangers. It’s the perfect chance to enjoy nature, learn more about local biodiversity, and take a break from the everyday cycle of campus life.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my own bike?

If you don't own a bike, you can download the TfGM Starling Hire Bike app and pick up one of the yellow hire bikes for the tour. It should cost around £3.50 in hire fees for the tour.

Is it free to attend?

There's no fee to join the bike ride but if you rent one of the TfGM bikes, there is a small charge. Signing up for the event helps to give us an idea of the number of people we might expect on the ride.

Do I need to know how to ride a bike to take part?

Yes – you’ll need to be able to comfortably ride a bicycle to join this event, as the route is around 5–6 km (about 3–3.7 miles) and takes around 45 minutes.

Where do we meet?

We'll meet outside Clifford Whitworth Library. Anybody who would like to use a TfGM hire bike will have time to unlock it here.
