This is not Bike-DIY

To avoid confusion, this is a booking for our professional workshop service. If you want to fix your own bike, please book a Thursday Bike-DIY Session.

What can I expect

As an environmental charity, we are passionate about keeping your bike running, safely, sustainably, and affordably. Our best moneysaving tip is a regular cycle safety check - it helps detect any issues early, and saves money in the long run. If your bike has been with Wee Spoke Hub before, you’ll know the drill.

In Scotland, we recommend having your bike checked or serviced twice a year, depending on weekly mileage. Safety checks are free, but people do end up spending money when issues arise.

If your bike has specific issues, feel free to email us in advance with details, and we'll be more ready to assist when you arrive:

What to expect

  • General safety check of your bike;
  • Discussing any bike issues you are already aware of;
  • A range of new & second-hand parts & accessories available;
  • If your bike needs it, a repair booking can be made on the spot.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?

Safety checks are completely free. Any service costs depend on what work and spare parts your bike needs.

When can I drop off my bike on the day I booked?

From 1pm until 5:45pm. (Or 13:00 - 17:45, if you prefer.)

Will I get my bike back the same day?

We aim to have your bike done by the following Saturday, although sometimes it can be sooner than that. Quick repairs are often same-day.

Can I drop-in without a booking?

Yes, of course. Although booking through Eventbrite isn't essential, it lets us know you're planning to visit the workshop. The booking also sends you an automated reminder.

We’re booked out?

You can still drop in with your bike on this date, we might just be a bit busier than usual.

Will I be served instantly?

On busy days, there may be a small wait.

How frequently should I have my bike checked?

It depends on the type of bike, and on your usage. In Scotland, typically every six months. If the bike has a hub-gear (or no gears), once a year is sufficient. If it's a particularly hardworking bike, or a wheelchair handcycle, we'd recommend every three months. The safety check is free. :)
