Event description

Description

Despite its many benefits, cycling was a minefield for women in Victorian Britain. Conventional fashions were unworkable, while wearing ‘rational’ cycle wear could provoke verbal and sometimes physical abuse. Join Kat Jungnickel of Goldsmiths, University of London, as she discusses the pioneering women who not only imagined, made and wore radical new forms of convertible cycle wear, but also patented their inventive designs.

Please note that this venue does not have wheelchair access.
