Bilingual Families and Brexit
Sat 13 May 2017, 15:30 – 17:30 BST
Are you part of a family that speaks several languages?
Are you raising your children to speak a language other than English?
Waltham Forest Bilingual Group is a small voluntary group set up by parents who wanted to get together to share experiences of raising children bilingually and support each other.
How will Brexit affect my multilingual family?
Should I reduce how much I speak my language in public?
How can I help my children be proud of their heritage in today’s context?
How can I help my children deal with or respond to negative comments?
Speakers planned include a lawyer and a psychologist/children’s therapist. There will be considerable time allowed for Q and A and discussion.
Funding permitting, we hope to run a children’s storytelling session (ages 4-11) and a crèche (ages 2-4) but places for this will be limited and you must book ahead.
Contact us: www.wfbilingual.org.uk
To request a creche/story telling session place (if running) please email: firstname.lastname@example.org stating your name, phone number, name(s) and age(s) of children.
