Bill Huntley Memorial Peace Fellows Seminar
The annual Bill Huntley Memorial Peace Seminar will take place at the University of Bradford, Great Hall on Saturday 29 October 2016. The theme for this seminar is "Peace Through Action".
This year the Fellows from the 2015/16 course will invite attendees to join in with individual discussion groups on a range of topics, as well updating the audience on their activities throughout the year and during their applied Field experiences.
To balance this, a panel of Rotary Peace Fellow Alumni, who graduated from the programme and are now actively engaged in peace work will present on their work since completing their studies. The invited alumni are :-
Dr Sellah Kong'oro from the Kenyan Cohesion and Integration Commission, Francesca Del Mese who is a barrister working with the UN, UK Government and several NGO's, Scott Hinkle from the Violent Extremism Research Unit in East Africa and Mara Duler a PhD candidate in Political Geography who is researching land conflicts.
The keynote speaker for the event will be award winning photographer Sean Sutton, who is the Communications Manager for the Mines Advisory Group and a Fellow at Leeds Beckett University in Applied Global Ethics.
As usual the celebration dinner will be held the night before, FRIDAY 28 OCTOBER, at the Midland Hotel and this can be booked via this service at the same time as the seminar bookings. The invited speaker at the dinner is Peace Fellow alumna Dr Erinma Bell who is Deputy Lieutenant for Greater Manchester.
The Midland Hotel have offered a discount rate for Rotarian attendees and details have been made available of this through your club secretary.
