BILLY ABBOTT & RACHEL McCORMACK - The Story of Scotch with a tasting
Event Information
About this Event
If you think you'd like Scotch whisky or already do and want to know more, join us for this whisky-infused YORStory Thursday. We'll be trying four mystery whiskies and using them as a starting point for examining the flavours you can find in Scotland's native spirit.
Your hosts for the event are:
Rachel McCormack, the author of “Chasing the Dram: Finding the Spirit of Whisky”, and a well-known voice in food and drink on the BBC and in the UK.
Billy Abbott, one of the most authoritative voices in whisky today. Shortlisted in 2020 for the prestigious IWSC Spirits Communicator award, Billy is the whisky ambassador for The Whisky Exchange and one of the organisers of London’s Whisky Squad tasting club.
During the evening, we will taste and discuss the four whiskies, sharing the flavours we find, ideas for pairing, whisky recommendations and Scotch whisky stories – it’s all about whisky, flavour and fun.
If you would like to taste along with us, you can get a pack of whisky samples and join in at home – we'll send you a link to buy them as soon as you have purchased a ticket. The packs cost £12 plus postage and packaging, and you can contact us if you'd like more details.
If you cannot get a pack – if you live outside the UK, we've sold out or it's too late for us to ship them (last orders are 11 February 2021) – then we will let you know what the whiskies are, as long as you promise not to reveal the drams before we do: no one likes a spoiler.
You are encouraged to ask questions on the zoom chat facility throughout, no question is too simple nor too obscure, and towards the end there will be group discussions to give you a chance to chat with other participants. If you wish to come as a virtual group, please let us know when booking so that we can make sure you are all together (or apart, if you wish) when we break out into groups to discuss the whiskies.
Thursday nights with YORStory are about an almost in-person experience, but from the safety of your own home. We have asked some renowned and award-winnning friends in the food and drink sectors (but thankfully for you, not family) to come online and offer you some of the best fun to be had with food and drink and stories.
Although this is very much a live and interactive online event, a recording will be available on the YORStory platform exclusively for attendees to watch back as many times as you like in the future. Go to www.yorstories.com to pre-register.
