Billy Kay - The Mither Tongue and the Scottish World
Wed 29 March 2017, 18:30 – 21:00 BST
Writer and award-winning broadcaster Billy Kay, author of 'Scots: The Mither Tongue' and 'The Scottish World: A Journey Into the Scottish Diaspora', will speak about two key aspects of Scottish culture and identity.
At the very core of that identity is the Scots tongue, the "bonnie broukit bairn" so often neglected in the past, but now on its way to being cherished. Just as striking is the extraordinary influence the Scots have had, over the years, on communities and cultures on almost every continent. Both are to be celebrated, and will be central to Scotland's future - whatever the constitutional arrangements - as a confident nation making its way in the world.
Billy's passion for his subject is well-known, and this promises to be an inspiring, thought-provoking evening. We're delighted to be returning to Heaven Scent Coffee Shop in Milnathort for this event. Admission is free and we hope you'll join us in large numbers to hear what Billy has to say.
