About this Event

FACILITATING THE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

Join us to hear more about how the UK BIM Alliance is facilitating the Digital Transformation of the Built Environment with and for the Industry. Learn about the UK BIM Alliance our Regions and Communities including BIM4Infrastructure and BIM4Highways

On April 25th we are in Leicester where we have a several speakers who will share their experiences and the challenges implementing BIM in infrastructure.

Our speakers will discuss;

What use is BIM to a medium schemes highways contractor? By Philip Reid  - Head of Digital Engineering Eurovia Contracting. A presentation about how Eurovia went from not knowing how BIM could add value to where they are today where it is showing its value in everyday working.

How to deliver practical BIM. By Liam Kimberley - BIM Principal Tony Gee & Partners. His presentation will provide an overview of how to create and deliver project information digitally, in a practical way. Taking a look at what is consistently requested by clients and why, as well as reviewing some examples of how these requirements have been delivered on Infrastructure projects.

Ben Earl - BIM Lead Interface Manager from Costain on M1 J13 to 16 Smart Motorways. Ben will discuss the cultural and contractual challenges of implementing BIM on the £375million upgrade of 24miles of the M1 to an All-Lane Running (ALR) smart motorway and how to deliver the required asset data for Highways England's Asset Management Systems.

Finally Andrew Johnson - Advisor at Operam will give his unique perspective on the Cultural Impact of Implementing BIM from a Soldiers POV. Having served 24 years in the Royal Engineer as a civil engineer and finishing as a senior soldier, Andrew has decided to transition into the world of digital transformation aka BIM. To further his knowledge, Andrew wrote his MSc dissertation on the cultural impact of BIM in the construction industry and would like to share his findings with us. In the past many have tried to implement BIM within the Royal Engineers and been unsuccessful, so Andrew decided to research the subject from a senior soldiers point of view and focus on adoption barriers.

The seminar will finish with refreshments and networking.
