Event Details

CITB NI is providing a series of short seminars on a range of topical business issues. These seminars are being delivered by industry experts, giving attendees a detailed overview of the subject area and the practicalities of dealing with these issues in the construction industry.

In addition, CITB NI will provide a short overview of the services we provide to the construction industry and their benefits to employers.

Mark McKane, MRICS, FHEA, MSc Construction Management (Project Management), BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying Lecturer / Course Director in BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management

 Mark has been a member of the Construction Industry Council (CIC) BIM Regions – Northern Ireland Steering Group since its inauguration in August 2013 and has been Champion since September 2014. He has experience working in commercial management of civil engineering construction projects and as a consultant project manager on various building construction projects spanning 15 years. He moved into education in 2004 and has delivered construction related courses from level 2 (14-16 year olds) up to level 7 (Masters) within the Northern Regional College and latterly within the School of the Built Environment at Ulster University. Research into the area has positioned Mark at the forefront of BIM training within the NI construction sector. He has recently registered to undertake a research PhD on BIM implementation within NI construction sector and has jointly published a number of short papers on embedding BIM within the Higher Education taught curriculum.

This session will tell the industry about the benefits of working with CITB NI as the Industry Training Board.  Our role is to work in partnership with the industry improving their performance and productivity through improving the skills of those employed or intending to be employed in the industry. The presentation will cover the wide range of products and services available including grants, training, publications and levy and their benefits to the industry.

  • Site Waste Management Plans

 

Richard Robinson, Sustainability Manager with Lagan Construction, is responsible for Sustainability across all Lagan Construction sites. A career environmentalist Richard has over 18 years’ experience implementing environmental best practice in construction on major projects in the UK and overseas.
