Aim
This seminar will develop a common understanding of BIM. It will cover some of the BIM standards and protocols that are now required, how BIM and information management should be used to get the most from your design team models, and look to the future of BIM in the UK.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Explain what BIM is
- Recognise the uses of BIM
- Identify the benefits, challenges and risks of BIM
- Recognise the pillars of BIM and how they affect you
- Describe PAS1192-2
- Judge when your deliverables are good enough
- Differentiate COBie, Ifc and Classification
Tutor
Graham H Stewart has 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. He has held various senior roles during his career, including UK Head of BIM at Ramboll. In 2017, Graham set up Scotland’s first digital information management consultancy to help clients understand what potential business outcomes and benefits can be gained using BIM
and digital technologies.

The course is aimed at all levels, from technician through to senior engineer/director level.
