Event description

Description

BIMA Beat Showcase - Tickets are free for BIMA members.

What is it that defines the best in digital creativity? How do you spot promise? What does inspirational look like? These are the questions BIMA Beat seeks to answer. And on 28 November you’ll be able to see the best entries to date at the BIMA Beat Showcase.

What is it?

BIMA Beat is a collaboration between BIMA, Sony Music UK’s 4th Floor Creative & Spotify. We’re looking for the best creative work from across the UK, work that represents the beating heart of UK digital creativity.

There’s a new theme to explore every quarter. This quarter’s theme is Reimagine.

BIMA Beat Showcase is where we display the best of the best entries, as judged by senior industry creatives.

In addition to admiring and being inspired by the work on display, we’ll be joined by speakers from Monotype and The Mill. You’ll meet BIMA’s Creative Council. And there’ll be lots of opportunity to network, scout and explore collaborations.

Who is it for?

The BIMA Beat Showcase event is for all those who submitted entries, for all creative directors and senior creatives eager to spot the latest talent, and for all creatives looking for new ideas, inspiration and networking connections.

Why you should attend

As a creative, BIMA Beat Showcase keeps you in touch with the latest trends. It’s a great opportunity to chat to senior practitioners and explore collaborations with other BIMA members.

As a senior creative, BIMA Beat Showcase is your opportunity to meet new talent, find new ideas and approaches, and network in great creative company.

Speakers:

Jason Gonsalves, Brand Director at THE FACE.

After 25 years in advertising agencies, plundering popular culture, Jason has finally decided it's time for payback. During his time in advertising he’s been lucky enough to work with some of the most interesting brands at some great agencies.

At Michaelides & Bednash he worked across all Channel 4 marketing: launching digital channels E4 and More 4, working with Jamie Oliver on his school dinners campaign, and even marketing the original Big Brother (for his sins).

He went on to run the advertising agency BBH for 10, as CSO, and was responsible for creating some of the most effective and creatively awarded campaigns for Google, Audi and The Guardian amongst others. During that time BBH was awarded agency of the year by IPA, Marketing and Campaign Magazines and The Webby's.

He left BBH to lead the development of Dentsu Aegis's creative proposition, whilst CEO of Mcgarrybowen.

At the end of 2018 he left to relaunch iconic style magazine The Face.

For Jason this isn't just his next job, it's a dream come true.

Tom Foley, UK Type Director, Monotype

Tom Foley is the UK Type Director for Monotype, and in his role, is responsible for leading a team of type designers creating fonts for the Monotype Library and corporate brands. Words and letters are in Tom’s blood - his great-grandfather was from a family of stonemasons that specialized in letter carving, and his uncle was a sign painter.

Tom was at home in Art class as a student and went on to study Graphic Design at the world-renowned University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins. He also studied type design under Freda Sack of Foundry Types to supplement his graphic design coursework.

Tom spent seven years at type foundry Dalton Maag where he progressed from font developer to creative director, and worked to solve the typographical problems of some of the world’s well-known brands. He joined Monotype in July of 2018, and he continues to work on custom fonts, and leading his team of type designers from the Monotype office in London.
